We are committed to creating a safe environment where everyone can enjoy a hassle-free buying and selling experience. We will continue to iterate, improve and work hard to enforce our policies, and we know that our work is never done. Even so, we cannot avoid that in the world there are people with bad intentions and we want to help you to detect and avoid falling into their scams. If you want your purchases and sales on Wallapop to be successful and safe, always follow these safety tips:

1) Use Wallapop for your payments. Do not pay for your purchases through channels other than Wallapop

With Wallapop shipping you can pay for your purchases and collect your sales securely within Wallapop. You don’t need to share your email or phone or use other channels to complete the transaction. Never click on links sent through channels other than Wallapop. We will NEVER ask for your login or credit card information outside the platform. Also remember that as a seller or buyer you will NEVER need to give or confirm your personal details to the buyer/seller.

If someone asks you to transfer or send money outside of our platform, it could be a scam attempt. We recommend that you report the user so we can review the case. In the last point of this article we tell you how to do it. 

2) Do not share your email or phone number

You don’t need to share your email or phone number to make a purchase or sale. We will never ask you to leave the application to make a payment or share personal data. If another user sends you an email, a link or a phone number to make a shipment (or a payment) or asks you for personal data report it via chat. 

3) Verify your email and phone to use two-factor authentication (2FA) and protect your account

An additional method to protect your account is to use two-factor authentication (2FA). At Wallapop every time you log in from a new device we will ask you to perform this authentication. Although it may be annoying, you should know that this means that it will be more difficult for strangers to access your data. For more information see: Two-step login verification

4) To communicate with other users, only use the Wallapop chat

At Wallapop we work to make your transactions 100% secure. For this we need you to always do them within our platform, we can’t protect you in channels outside Wallapop!

5) Wallapop will only contact you through official channels via email or the app’s notification center

Wallapop will never contact you via chat.  If we have to contact you we will contact you via email with official senders (@wallapop.com, @ban.wallapop.com, @info.wallapop.com, @mail.wallapop.com, @news.wallapop.com, @report.wallapop.com, @motor.wallapop.com). 6) Remember that Wallapop Shipping only operates through Correos, Seur, GLS, Poste Italiane or Bartolini, CTT or DPD Portugal

To buy click on the “Buy now” button in the chat of the Wallapop application, it’s that easy! To sell Accept the buyer’s offer. You can do it from the chat or in the “Shipping” section of the main menu of the Wallapop app. Remember that for the moment, Wallapop shipping only operates in Spain through Correos, Seur and GLS, in Italy with Poste Italiane or Bartolini and in Portugal with CTT or DPD Portugal. Again, to sell or buy products remotely, use only Wallapop Shipping, you’ll be in good hands!

7) Beware of phishing scams

Beware of impersonating a person or company. At first glance they may look like official messages or web pages, but in reality they are scammers who send these messages to try to steal your account or your bank details. Remember that to sell a product you should never add your bank card. For more information see: How can I identify suspicious and phishing behavior? If someone asks you to transfer or send money outside our platform, it could be a scam attempt. In these cases we recommend that you report the user for us to review the case.

8) Report suspicious behavior to us

If you want to report the behavior of another Wallapop user:

1- Enter the conversation you have had.

2- Click on the 3 dots icon to report it. 

3- You will see that the application gives you the option to select from several reasons to report. Try to choose the one that best fits what happened, if you do not find the option, select “Other causes” and explain what happened so we can help you.
